About Edge Power Kites

Edge Power Kites is run by Alex and Jonathan.
The kite store was started in 1989 and grew out from an interest in kites. The kite section was initially a part of Model Marque but it soon grew into its own department combining both delta kites and Flexifoil Power Kites.
With the advent of the first commercially available four line kites from Quadrafoil and Flexifoil we focused our business on the growing traction kite market. We started stocking early buggies from Peter Lynn and landboards.
With the arrival of the Flexifoil Blade suddenly there was a huge increase in performance and possibilities for kite sports. We spent a weekend with Jason Furness who was a Flexifoil team rider at the time and he introduced us to kitesurfing on a modified 7ft 10 surfboard with straps and Blades on two lines.
In 2000 as inflatable kites started to dominate the surf market we headed off to France where the sport was more established and had some lessons with Laurent Ness. We have been kitesurfing ever since.
Land based sports such as bugging, mountainboarding and landboarding are well represented at our shop here in Norwich. In 2004 we started the Norfolk Power Kite Club NPKC to protect local flying sites. The Club has a couple of good locations and we regularly hold demo days at the local airfield in Tibenham.
